A Different Kind of Halloween

Island aficionados know that the Sanibel Community House is the place to be for all sorts of family fun at Halloween!

They’re still planning on hosting their Annual Fall Festival — but with a twist this year.

On October 30, trick-o-treaters and their pets are invited to drive around the facility from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m., 5 to 6 p.m. and 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.  There will be three different candy collection stations.  A bag of candy will be distributed to them by contact-less delivery at each stop by a person wearing a mask and gloves.

In addition, a scavenger hunt will be included.  Leading up to the event, trick-on-treaters are invited to take photos with their phone or other device of various items, such as a jar of seagrape honey or an ibis.  Prizes will be awarded to those photographing eight or more items on the list.  For the complete list of items, click here.

A costume contest will also take place, with the categories to include family, ages 16 and under, group themes, pet, and individual.  Those uncomfortable coming in person, may submit their photos.  Voting will be open until Nov. 2.

For those of you who may be reading this at home, Resident Chef Jarred will share how to carve a pumpkin and make a delicious fall cocktail virtually.  To check it out, visit online at sanibelcommunityhouse.net.
