Mullets. Big hair. Ill-advised fashion choices. Stilted poses. Unhappy children.
The “Awkward Family Photos” exhibit — a traveling show featuring more than 200 goofy, awkward and often hilarious family photos — is now available to see at the Center for Performing Arts in Bonita Springs through July 25.
The exhibit sprang from the website awkwardfamilyphotos.com, created by Mike Bender and Doug Chernack in 2009 who were inspired by vacation photos of their own families. They started by posting their own awkward family photos and those of their friends, and it quickly became an internet sensation, with viewers sending in their own awkward photos. The popular traveling show has broken records for attendance since it first debuted ten years ago and was even featured on the TODAY Show.
The Center for Performing Arts Bonita Springs is located at 10150 Bonita Beach Road in Bonita Springs. For more information, call 239-495-8989 or visit artcenterbonita.org.
