Talk about passion! Our friends at the Bailey-Matthews Shell Museum never cease to amaze us with their passion to offer in-depth insight into many of the shells that have played vital roles in history, culture, art, design, medicine and more.

Fifteen (15) brand new exhibits now greet guests to add to their “wow” experience at the museum.

The entrance to the museum’s Great Hall of Shells now features a nine-panel exhibit entitled Journey to the Center of a Shell.

On the ground floor, more vibrant new panels spotlight ways on how guests can make the most of their shelling experience to the island, with focus on:

• Shells of Sanibel & Captiva
• Prepare To Shell
• How To Shell
• When To Shell
• Where To Shell
• Remarkable Finds

The new exhibits were funded through a grant from the West Coast Inland Navigation District.

Open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., the Bailey-Matthews National Shell Museum is located at 3075 Sanibel-Captiva Road on Sanibel. For more information, visit www.shellmuseum.org or call 1-239-395-2233.
