After recently celebrating its 95th Anniversary, it’s “back to the future” for the Sanibel Community House.
To get everyone buzzing about the looks and tastes we can expect to see in the coming year, SCA will host “Fashion & Fizz” on Thursday, March 16. This unique event will offer an entertaining review of fashion-forward trends in women’s apparel, cocktails and appetizers, providing a perfect “girls’ night out” for island friends.
Local businesses showing their wares at the event will be Blum Beauty Studio, Chico’s, Coco y Cabana, Eileen Fisher, Her Sports Closet, J. McLaughlin, Nanny’s , Priscilla’s of Sanibel, Seaglass Lane, and Whims. (To be COVID conscious, there will not be a traditional runway this year. Each business will be represented by their owner or manager talking about their store’s fashion trends for 2022 and by two models representing their stylings.) Special discounts and raffles will be available to attendees.
Cocktails fitting the occasion will be served. Choices will include the Fashion Fizz, Sweet Stiletto, and Fashionista Cosmo, just to name a few. Hot and cold appetizers will be available at every table, and a dessert station will provide the closing touch of a sweet something.
It’s not the first time the Community House has been the location for an Island fashion event. As far back as the 1950’s, the ladies of Sanibel came together every year to see the latest looks on the Community House “runway.” And in more recent years, fashion events have been held at the House in 2019 and 2020. However, this year’s event is the first that has brought together a creative pairing of fashions, cocktails and yummy hors d’oeuvres.
Doors open for the event at 5 pm; the event will begin at 5:30 pm. Tickets are available for $50 ($45 for SCA members) or $360 for a table of eight. Tickets can be purchased at The Community House, by calling 239-472-2155, or online here.
