Historical Toy Exhibit

The Sanibel Historical Village will display an exhibit of toys now through the holiday season. All the village’s buildings will display a variety of vintage and antique toys that are part of the museum’s collection.

“Most of our museum toy collection will be on display in each of our vintage buildings. From handmade to store-bought, we have what children of the 1900s wished for: dolls and dollhouses, trains, boats, cars, books, games, and more,” said Executive Director Emilie Alfino.

Toys appeal to people of all ages, Alfino said. Not only are they poignant reminders of youth, they convey fascinating glimpses into the values, styles, and technology of earlier eras.

The Sanibel Historical Museum and Village is open Tuesdays through Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Full guided tours take place at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. at no additional charge, depending on docent availability.

The Sanibel Historical Village is located at 950 Dunlop Road (next to BIG ARTS) and there is handicap access. Admission is $10 for adults over 18. Members and children are free.
