One of our favorites has been named “best” in the country!
TripAdvisor readers have crowned Doc Ford’s Rum Bar & Grille on San Carlos Island the Number 1 Restaurant for “Everyday Eats” in the U.S. as part of the 2021 Travelers’ Choice “Best of the Best” Restaurants awards.
Doc Ford’s, named for the protagonist of founder’s Randy Wayne White’s bestselling books, debuted on Sanibel Island in 2003.
The restaurant’s second location on Fort Myers Beach location opened in April 2009, followed by additional restaurants on Captiva and at the St. Petersburg Pier. A fifth Doc Ford’s is in the works for St. Pete Beach, with a tentative opening slated for spring 2022.
The Fort Myers Beach Doc Ford’s features a large, open-air deck overlooking Matanzas Pass, which has remained busy since it reopened its dining areas in summer 2020 following the onset of the pandemic.
