We thought you’d enjoy a potpourri of memories from Ocean’s Reach guests today! We asked you to share your favorite recollections, and we’ve received an assortment of wonderful photos, poetry and more.
As guest Margie L. of Sun City West, AZ wrote: Loved the warm and peaceful feeling there at Ocean’s Reach; watching dolphins from our balcony with our morning coffee; checking to see if the ospreys are on their nest; friendly and responsive people in the office; so many places to wander…and so much more.
We received this from guests Brian and Patty M. of Baldwinsville, NY: Thank you for the ongoing wonderful reminders of what was and what shall be. After checking in and visiting with the Ocean’s Reach folks working the desk, we would drop off our belongings in our room and get out to the beach ASAP. Our mission was always the mesmerizing and meditative quest for the perfect shell.
As an homage to Ocean’s Reach specifically and Sanibel Island in general, we offer the following haiku:
Waves of shells bring peace.
Tides carry away our cares.
More delightful poetry from guest Mal M. of Plymouth, MN:
Sanibel by the sea,
What a wonderful place to be;
The sky is blue and the wind is soft
Gulls and pelicans floating aloft;
Dolphins frolicking by the beach,
Teasing us just out of reach;
Now as the day draws to a close
I noodle the warm sand under my toes;
The silent sun sinks slowly into the silver sea
The end of another God sent day for Sanibel and me.
Lastly — for today — thanks to long-time guests Dan F. and Mary D. from Galesburg, IL. Dan put together a lovely “Reel” of their favorite Sanibel memories, which you can view by clicking here (be sure to unmute video for some cool Kenny G vibes!)
We love sharing your fond memories, so please continue to send them in!
