Our upcoming National Seashell Day is gaining momentum!
“Good Morning America” is now scheduled to join the list of planned events for National Seashell Day, designed to help put our amazing shelling community even more in the spotlight.
Scheduled for the first day of summer on Monday, June 20, National Seashell Day will kick off with “Good Morning America,” as weather forecasts will be filmed remotely from Sanibel by ABC Chief Meteorologist Ginger Zee throughout the morning.
After that, there will be a number of special events featured throughout the area, including at the Bailey-Matthews National Shell Museum on Sanibel, the Shell Factory and Nature Park in North Fort Myers, the Mound House (built on a Calusa Indian shell mound) on Estero Island, and kayak tours to Mound Key. Several area businesses will be offering special promotions, and don’t be surprised if you see an elaborately shell-adorned VW Beetle being driven around town by friends from our local tourism bureau!
