Offshore Powerboat Racing

Get ready to celebrate the return of Offshore Powerboat Racing to Fort Myers Beach!

The American Power Boat Association National Championship wraps up in our area on October 10 – 12, the last stop for the inaugural season of this racing series.

Come out and see the Miss Geico offshore racing team compete against Australia, Norway, Sweden and other countries.

Spectators will have numerous up-close viewing opportunities to feel the roar of these amazing boats going by at 180mph.  The entire race will be visible anywhere on the beach, from the pier to mid-Island, and on the water in the spectator anchoring area.

The party will kick off on Thursday, October 10 with a parade of race boats over the Matanzas Bridge and onto Old San Carlos Boulevard for a street party.  Boats will be on display in the streets with live music, food and a chance to see the race boats up close and meet the teams in person.

On Friday, October 11, the Race Village opens at 9 am with vendor displays and the opportunity to interact with race teams and view the boats.  Teams will be testing on the race course that day, so there will be plenty of action on the water, as well.

“Official Race Day” on Saturday, October 12 brings three races with an assortment of viewing options.  You can choose to watch the races anywhere on the beach, or with unobstructed viewing from one of the host waterfront restaurants.  Other options include a VIP waterfront table, aboard a boat in the spectator anchoring area, in a beach chair, or even from a raft floating in the water.
