Get ready to pedal for a good time! Cycle Co. has started a new party bike in downtown Cape Coral, just about a half-hour drive from Ocean’s Reach.
These covered, pedal-powered “cycle pubs” operate as a sort of bar on four wheels. Passengers bring their own drinks on board. They cycle around downtown Cape Coral and pedal from bar to bar, hopping back on the bike to visit the next destination.
“It’s motor-assisted, so it’s not a strenuous pedal,” says Kelly LaMagna, who co-owns the franchise. “We stop at each bar for 30 minutes, and then we’re kind of pedaling down the road. As we pass by some of the bars, people are screaming and honking. There’s music and lights on the bike, so it’s a good time.”
Cycle Co. follows in the footsteps of downtown Cape Coral’s popular, themed trolley events, where trolleys take people to various bars and restaurants for drink and appetizer samples. But those trolleys only operate as special events one night a month. Cycle Co. will run Thursday through Saturday weekly with three to five bike tours a night, LaMagna says.
Currently, each two-hour bike tour starts and ends at Nice Guys restaurant and visits three other locations in between: Tiki Hut Bar & Grill, BackStreets Sports Bar and Rusty’s Raw Bar and Grill.
As many as 10 passengers can help pedal, but a Cycle Co. “pilot” actually steers the bike. That way, people can just relax and enjoy their drinks and the sights in downtown Cape Coral, LaMagna says.
