Not surprisingly, Sanibel Island made the list of the “25 Best Family Beach Vacations” as published recently by The Pioneer Woman.
The article starts:
There’s something so relaxing about the best family beach vacations. It’s probably the soothing effects of that hot summer sun drifting down on us as we laze on a super soft beach towel. Or maybe it’s the smell of sunscreen in the air, or the sound of the waves crashing on the coast. Or it could even be the sweet sight of our littles, shovels and buckets in hands, building sandcastles on the shore. Whatever it is, the best family beach vacations are a stress-free chance for mom to rock some nifty outfits, dad to crack a great book, and the kids to record it all on Instagram.

Get ready to do the “Sanibel Stoop” when visiting this island off the coast of Fort Myers — the shelling is so good there, the activity has a nickname. Blind Pass and Bowman’s beaches are particularly good for scoring shells, and when you and the kiddos have gathered enough you can keep an eye out for critters at the J.N. Ding Darling National Wildlife Refuge. Or, go fishing or kayaking in Tarpon Bay.
