Here, Pretty Python!

It’s time for the 2022 Python Challenge, which is music to the ears of Edison National Bank CEO Geoff Roepstorff, a committed environmentalist who can often be found hunting invasive pythons deep in the Everglades.

He and fellow Edison National Bank founder — and wife — Robbie Roepstorff have become the first sponsors of this year’s official python removal competition, scheduled for August 5 – 12, 2022.

Participants are encouraged to remove as many invasive Burmese pythons from designated Florida public lands as possible.  The ten-day event, organized by the Fish & Wildlife Foundation of Florida, also serves as a reminder to the public that irresponsibly releasing pythons into the wild can have devastating consequences for the native wildlife in the Florida Everglades and surrounding ecosystems.

“It’s great to see my fellow hunters participating in this competition, but there’s a serious purpose that brings me to the Python Challenge,” said Geoff.  “As a lifelong Floridian, I want to help my state government to exercise stewardship over the Everglades and the native species in that habitat.  This python elimination program is essential for protecting the native wildlife we cherish.”
