This weekend, one of our most beloved and cherished island traditions — simply known as Luminary — will once again light up the pathways and usher in the holidays with candlelight, festivity and goodwill!
“We know the business community is looking forward to opening doors once again to residents and guests on this special weekend that has become synonymous with island holidays,” Sanibel-Captiva Islands Chamber of Commerce President and Chief Executive Officer John Lai said. “It has been a celebrated occasion for so long that last year, despite all efforts to maintain merry momentum, traditional Luminary was sorely missed.”
As in years past, the weekend festivities will be split among our sister islands. Sanibel will celebrate Luminary on Friday, December 3 and Captiva on Saturday, December 4. In addition to candle-lined walkways, the 37th year of festivities will bring live music, decorations, sidewalk sales and other retail deals, and free refreshments.
As you “travel the trail,” look for the many festive places to stop and enjoy. Shops and restaurants provide plenty of free holiday goodies, and there will be visits and photo ops with Santa, a live nativity scene, and a number of other fun activities for the entire family to enjoy. More info can be found here.
We look forward to seeing our guests throughout the evening. As islanders say, “See you on the trail!”
