Veteran’s Day on Sanibel

With respect, honor and gratitude, we thank all who have served.

The City of Sanibel and the Lee Coast Chapter of the Military Officers Association of America (MOAA) will conduct our annual Veterans Day ceremony on the grounds of Sanibel City Hall beginning at 11 a.m.

Fred Bondurant, past chapter president, will officiate. Mayor Kevin Ruane, Sanibel City Council members and Sanibel City Manager Judie Zimomra are also expected to participate. The BIG ARTS Concert Band will provide music.

This year’s guest speaker will be retired Navy Captain and Sanibel resident Nori Ann Reed. Reed served aboard six United States Navy ships and commanded three. She was a leader in breaking new ground for women in the Navy.

For those who have never attended, one of the most touching aspects of the ceremony is Remembrances, where veterans recall their military experiences and how they and others were affected by them. Any veteran who wishes to participate is welcome to do so.

Sanibel City Hall is located at 800 Dunlop Road.
