For nearly 40 years, Ikki Matsumoto’s iconic artwork was inspired by the abundant natural wonders of Sanibel and Captiva.
“Captivated, The Art of Ikki Matsumoto” is a heartfelt tribute to the legendary island artist. The 156-page work was recently recognized with a Bronze Medal “IPPY” in the Coffee Table Book category of the 2021 Independent Publisher Book Awards.
“The IPPY’s is a global competition, so being singled out by them as one of the top three coffee table books in the world this year is quite an honor,” author and publisher Steve Saari of Sandpiper Press said. “It is also a testament to the one-of-a-kind talents of Ikki Matsumoto and we hope recognition like this can help his art reach a larger audience.”
Launched in 1996, the Independent Publisher Book Awards are designed to bring increased recognition to the deserving but often unsung titles published by independent authors and publishers. Open exclusively to independents, the IPPYs recognize the year’s best books and bring them to the attention of booksellers, buyers, librarians and book lovers.
