A visit to Sanibel over the 4th of July is always more than beach and barbeque. Visitors know that they can celebrate our country’s independence in a small town with a big bang!
Our home grown parade, themed “Preserving the Red, White and Blue” this year, starts off the day, parading proudly from Bailey’s General Store to the Bank of the Islands on Periwinkle Way. Insiders know to take a seat with a cold drink in hand on the grounds of the Sanibel Community Church following their free all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast.
Then it’s time to cruise along the byways of Sanibel and Captiva to decipher clues and hunt for treasure in the Sanibel Road Rally.
What better way to cap the day than with pop and circumstance? Look up into the sky towards the causeway for the best view of our red, white and blue fireworks display.
