Audubon of Southwest Florida is holding its 16th Annual Sanibel Island Hawk Watch on Saturday, October 19 at 8 a.m. at the Sanibel Lighthouse.
This is one of the signature birding outings for the organization, where you can view several species of birds of prey at work at the height of migration season. There will also be opportunities to see shorebirds as well as warblers – or even a painted bunting – in the offshore hammocks. The host will be birder Vince McGrath.
Whether you are new to birding or an experienced birder, Audubon field trips offer some of the best birding and nature locations in Southwest Florida. Meet others in the community who love birding and nature, and who are engaged in environmental issues in Lee County and beyond.
Wear appropriate clothing for the weather, and be sure to bring sunscreen, water, a camera, field glasses, a folding chair and bug spray. Members and non-members, beginners and advanced birders are welcome. All chapter-sponsored field trips are free; but donations are always appreciated.
