The sun always rises.
Regardless of how many shifts and twists and turns
we experience in our lives, the sun will rise tomorrow.
And it has. After the triple force threat of Debby, Helene and Milton, the sun still rose every time, illuminating our beautiful shores and reminding us just how cherished Sanibel Island is for so many.
The aftermath of the three storms, however, left behind numerous new challenges to tackle for Ocean’s Reach, each of which were disappointing, especially as we were getting “ever so close” to completing the restoration work brought about by Hurricane Ian two years ago.
Most recently, we’ve experienced minor flooding that has impacted our office and storage areas. Storm surge has also affected much of our grounds and landscaping. We’re pleased to report that there was no water intrusion experienced by the condos themselves. Elevator repairs and pool refinishing have been delayed, as unfortunately some of our vendors and contractors have also been affected by the storms.
Our staff has returned to the island as soon as possible after each storm, quickly getting to work on cleanup and repairs … and yes, it’s become a bit tiring! This latest storm left us without power and utilities for days, with some of the island still waiting.
While we’re making progress, it’s likely that our plans to reopen next month may have to be altered. Our board and management staff are busy exploring all options and trying to determine how quickly we will be able to roll out our welcome mat again.
Our office will be reaching out in the coming days to those with reservations that may be impacted by these adjustments.
As always, we truly appreciate your support and understanding during these unexpected and unforeseen times. We so look forward to welcoming you back just as soon as we can!

Good to hear from you. We’ve been worried about how all of you, and Ocean’s Reach, are doing during these difficult days. Three hurricanes in such a short period of time is a bit much. We give you so much credit for plugging along and re-doing what had already been done. Looking forward to seeing you February/March 2025.
While we are sorry for your setbacks, we are so happy that hurricane Milton spared Sanibel with the destruction that has occurred elsewhere in Florida. God Bless you and all the Floridians that have suffered the wrath of Helene and Milton.
Stay positive and keep chipping away at the huge tasks left by the storms. You folks have accomplished so much ! We look forward to seeing you and Ocean’s Reach better than ever.

Thank you so much for letting all of us know what’s happening. So glad to hear water did not damage the condos again. Hang in there I know this has to be so frustrating, hopefully soon we can all return to this lovely island and our special place Oceans Reach ❤️
So glad to hear this news after all these hurricanes in a row and so glad to hear that Oceans Reach is getting stronger and will be better than ever after these setbacks and that everyone got out of the storms safe and okay. I’m so proud and thankful to all of you for your perseverance and dedication to getting us back to staying in our favorite place in Florida. God bless you all.
So thankful to hear updates from you! We have been praying for everyone in Florida and North Carolina. I’m thrilled that although there was more flooding, damage was minimal and can be repaired. We miss you and we’re hoping things will be repaired by December. 🙏🤗❤️
