400 Rabbits

Sanibel’s newest restaurant is hopping!

No pun intended, but 400 Rabbits — which calls itself a “Mexican Kitchen and Tequilaria” — has finally opened after much anticipation.

It’s owned by Debra and Jeramie Campana, who also own the Paper Fig Kitchen at Tahitian Gardens.  Alongside award-winning Chef Don Yamauchi, they’re bringing freshness and comida deliciosa to the island, with twists on favorite Mexican dishes featuring carnitas, al pastor, barbacoa, char sia pork, grilled shrimp and ancho chicken.

Although somewhat ironic that the restaurant is located on Rabbit Road, the name 400 Rabbits is actually born from Aztec legend.

400 Rabbits is located at 975 Rabbit Road at the corner of Rabbit Road and Sanibel-Captiva Road (the original location for both The Timbers Restaurant and Doc Ford’s Rum Bar and Grille, before they moved to their respective current locations on Tarpon Bay Road).
