A Few “Cool” Things to Do

water park Cape Coral

If you want to do a few “cool” things away from the beach at Ocean’s Reach this summer, our local visitor’s bureau has a few nearby suggestions to route your way!

Sun Splash Family Water Park in Cape Coral is a wonderful choice, with 14 acres of waterslides, pools and fun. A local favorite, the park is open daily through Aug 9 and weekends Aug 10 – Sept 25.

Or check out the newest addition to our area, Pinewood Trails on Pine Island. It opened just a few weeks ago and is a great free venue offering wildlife viewing and hiking along two short trails: Pine Loop is 8-feet wide and 1/3 of a mile long, and Holly Way is more primitive in nature and 1/4 mile long. The park is habitat to plant and animal species including the gopher tortoise, osprey, red-shouldered hawk, northern cardinal and woodpecker. Park hours are dawn to dusk.

Lastly, chill out at the Imaginarium Science Center in Fort Myers where you’ll find fun and entertainment for the entire family through hands-on science exhibits. There’s a marine touch tank with stingrays, along with exhibits displaying live fish, sharks, turtles and iguanas, daily animal encounters and the opportunity to become a TV weather forecaster in the museum’s mini-studio. Open 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday and noon-5 p.m. Sunday.
