Learn floral design, just in time for the holidays!
For the second year in a row, Floral Artistry of Sanibel will host a floral design workshop by Dutch Master Florist Mark Frank.
Due to the popularity of last year’s event, he will teach two separate workshops this year – one using traditional design methods, and another with a modern approach to florals. Participants will create their own centerpieces from fresh flowers that they can take home.
The workshops — “Traditional Design” on Oct. 11 at 5 p.m., and “Modern Design” on Oct. 12 at 1 p.m. — will take place at The Community House on Sanibel.
Frank is the owner of Mark Frank Styling, an international floral consulting and design company based in Hilversum in the Netherlands. For the past 20-plus years, he has been involved in national and international floral projects all over the world. While Frank is a sought-after corporate consultant, his passion is still in hands-on floral design, styling events and exhibitions, and in personally teaching students how to optimize their floral creations.
The view from Frank’s office window changes constantly as he has travelled to represent clients in Moscow, Chicago, Kiev, Kenia, Ukraine, Portugal, New Orleans, Bogota, Switzerland, Slovenia, Italy, Quito and China to name a few. His work has been in publications involving the Dutch Royal Family, Floriade World Floral Exhibition, Cirque du Soleil, Sesame Street, Holland Flower Promotion, World Floral Expo-Miami, Chinese Horticulture Exhibition in Qingdao and at floral parades in the Netherlands, Belgium and Holland, Michigan.
Tickets to the workshops include materials and admission to Floral Artistry’s “Christmas in October’ Holiday Party Showcase and Gift Market on Oct. 12 at 5 p.m.
“Christmas in October” is in its second year and will feature a holiday wonderland of floral and event design. Samplings from area caterers and seasonal music from live musicians will delight anyone seeking inspiration for their holiday soirees. Island retailers will have gifts available for purchase and local scouts will be on hand to offer gift wrapping.
