As you may recall from past blog posts, our Sanibel Community House is undergoing a major restoration project this summer. We thought you might be interested in seeing the progress!
The Sanibel Community House has serviced the island for nearly 90 years. At last count, it plays host to 57 island organizations and more than 50,000 people who meet at the House for yearly activities.
A successful fundraising campaign generated more than $3 million for the renovation, which is slated for completion in November 2016.
When finished, the Sanibel Community House will boast a fresh “Old Florida” exterior design, with a new roof and porch-style entryway/drop off. The interior space will be redesigned with a more open, flexible floor plan. The historic North Room will be restored, and a new conference room for small meetings will be added. The kitchen and restrooms will be enlarged and upgraded with modern fixtures and equipment. Office space and storage areas will be redesigned for more flexibility, and audio, video, internet, electrical, plumbing and HVAC systems will be updated to more efficient modern standards. Lastly, the parking lot will be revamped to add space and fit in with new landscaping.
