The Great Migration

Our friends over at the “Ding” Darling Wildlife Refuge have been keeping in sync with the Urban Wildlife Refuge Partnership, a national refuge system-wide initiative to encourage community connection.

With that in mind, they’ve decided to make the “great migration” across the Sanibel Causeway and hold their 33rd annual “Ding” Darling Day celebration at Lakes Park in Fort Myers this year on Sunday, October 10 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

As always, the family-centric event will feature special outdoor programs including games, nature crafts, guided walks and educational interactions with other local conservation organizations.  Wildlife Olympics, a celebrity dunk tank, plein-air art demonstrations and a display of the 2021 “Ding” Darling Day Amateur Nature Photo Contest winning entries will also be featured.  Lastly, attendees will have a chance to tour the Wildlife on Wheels (WoW) mobile outreach classroom, which has already hosted more than 6,000 students since its debut in December 2020.
