BIG ARTS has been the heart of our island for more than four decades.
The Barrier Island Group for the Arts was created in 1979 by a small group of dedicated artists who wanted to capture the joy, inspiration and sense of community they found on Sanibel Island. The special gathering place they envisioned has provided exceptional artistic, educational and enrichment experiences for island residents and visitors ever since.
This past year, BIG ARTS proved once again to be the vital nucleus of our community by hosting a number of town hall meetings and special free gathering events aimed at helping and uplifting islanders as we continue with recovery efforts from Hurricane Ian.
We were delighted to hear that they recently announced the 2023-2024 BIG ARTS Workshop Series, featuring more than 70 creative workshops to be taught by favorite instructors returning to help celebrate the artist in all of us.
