In conjunction with the visiting Smithsonian Water/Ways exhibit at “Ding” Darling Visitor & Education Center Oct. 28 through Dec. 8, 2016, WaterVentures Florida’s Learning Lab will make a one-day stop on Saturday, Dec. 3, 2016.

The 53-foot traveling science center features engaging activities that offer a hands-on look at Florida’s diverse watersheds, water conservation, and recycling, with the goal of inspiring critical thinking and empowering kids and adults to make a difference in the world around them.  » Read more

Lisa and her family traveled up to North Carolina recently to celebrate as daughter, Marin, graduated from historic Davidson College. In addition to commencement, they enjoyed a full weekend of activities, including a unique graduation picnic held on the grounds of a quarry in nearby Mooresville.

Marin received a four-year scholarship as part of the school’s prestigious Bonner Scholars Program, during which she completed 280 hours of community service each year.  » Read more

A close encounter of the natural kind can yield magic on your soul. On Sanibel it can be as near as a manatee’s nose lying on your paddleboard! A frequent Ocean’s Reach guest recently discovered this gentle, playful creature at Tarpon Bay Explorers. Even though the manatee’s nose was on top of the paddleboard, our guest was careful not to touch. Perfect Spot for a Paint-Out

The Sanibel-Captiva Art League held its March plein-air Paint-Out at RS Walsh’s In The Garden, the island’s retail garden center and outdoor showroom.

The group meets monthly at different locations around the islands.
